Minister of Foreign Affairs, Fitz Bramble, said Sunday that the Government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) was monitoring the situation in Venezuela very closely, following the invasion by the United States and the capture of President Nicolas Maduro and his wife.

In a statement released via state media, Bramble said that Kingstown has been in constant contact with its ambassador in Caracas, Gareth Bynoe, who has advised that all Vincentian diplomatic staff are safe and the country is calm.

He said Bynoe had also advised that the Vincentian embassy had not been contacted by any Vincentian who might be in Venezuela.

Bramble said that both Venezuela and the United States are friends of SVG.

“Indeed, we are members of the families of nations, of the United Nations and of the Organisation of American States. So, you can well appreciate that the situation is of grave concern to our country and our region,” said Bramble, a former diplomat.

He said Kingstown recognises that there are “possible, far-reaching implications” for SVG,

as a small island developing state.

“Resultantly, we will continue to follow closely the situation in Venezuela as it unfolds, and we will continue to assess and respond when necessary to possible economic and other impacts,” Bramble said.

He said Prime Minister of SVG Godwin Friday and his government remain committed to the development of Vincentians and the region.

“As a member of CARICOM, we align ourselves with the statements made by the CARICOM conference of heads of government and the Bureau of the Conference of heads of government, made on January 2nd and third, 2026, respectively,” Bramble said.

He quoted the statements as saying CARICOM is firmly committed to the fundamental principles of international law and multilateralism enshrined in the UN Charter.

“My government will continue to monitor the situation in Venezuela and will keep the people of our blessed land informed of further developments,” Bramble said.

CARICOM leaders met early on Saturday to discuss the developments in Venezuela.

A brief statement issued by the CARICOM Secretariat said that the 15-member regional integration grouping was “actively monitoring the situation which is of grave concern to the Region with possible implications for neighbouring countries.

“CARICOM will continue to update the people of the region as more information is received,” the two-paragraph statement added.

Perfect time to close down the embassy and bring everyone home. No point carrying on there and as it’s hardly utilised any services can be done via WhatsApp or email. Need to rationalise all of the overseas missions/embassies/consulates as Ralph had lots of persons sitting in offices doing very little and at great expense to the nation.

Looking at the comments of Vincy people on FB, you’ll swear they white. Some of us live in white dominated lands and I get the impression they wish they were white..defending imperialism. We’ve been thought to hate ourselves and that’s something we’ve learned really well. As a race of people,we’re the most destitute and hopeless..not about to change anytime soon ,if ever.

  3. It is amazing to hear the criticism of America. What about the Venezuelan ppl, including the 8 million refugees? Most of them seem to be very, very happy.

  4. Esmie Pringle, slavery, colonialism,Jim crow ,have reduced the black man to survival mode. Survival mode means to each his own, crab in a barrel, self hate,to each his own. It’s about who we can get a food from. Who we depend on dictates our next move. It’s our sad reality. We can’t seem to work together for the common goood because we’re always in survival mode..it’s probably genetic after all these yrs.

  5. What many overlook is that Venezuela’s suffering is a feature, not a bug, of US policy—a calculated means of forcing submission. The war in Libya answers the question: what happens when coercion fails and a recalcitrant state is made an example of?

Trump realizes he has real leverage and unlimited power on the Caribbean. Friday, you have to pivot away from CBI where you had all your nest eggs. You also have to stick with Taiwan. Poor relief of $500 and the $500 baby grant has to be abandoned. The next 3 yrs would be extremely testing, Friday. You convinced us that you were the man for the job. You probably would have to take deportees like some of the other island. At least you’ll be getting paid. Ball is in your cout ,Friday.

  7. I strongly disagree with any world leader bowing to America and Trump egoistical demands. When I look closely at the remarks of previous and active US military about the attack in Venezuela I believe President Kennedy was assassinated by the US military. These guys are trained to kill other people to take control of other countries and their inhabitants. That’s what they are paid for; ensuring there is a war in other countries. Now the goose in coming home to rouse and Americans are being killed in the USA.
Those who not willing to speak about what they see when America ISIS shoot demonstrators are blind top the truth. Ironically, Trump has been lying to America for more than 10 years and they still elected him. I keep hearing these words “On both sides”, a term Trump created when his white friends attacked other nationalities.
Mr. Bramble America is no friend of SVG. American thinks of them first. I remember when the black Americans referred to Black Caribbean as AILENS.
