The St. Vincent and the Grenadines Basketball Federation (SVGBF) has announced the 20-member delegation that will represent the nation at the FIBA AmeriCup 2029 Caribbean Pre-Qualifiers, scheduled for July 6–13 in Georgetown, Guyana.
The tournament marks a significant milestone for Vincentian basketball, as it will be the Men’s Senior National Basketball Team’s first international competition since the 2018 tournament in Suriname.
The team will be aiming to qualify for the next stage of the FIBA AmeriCup in November 2026.
The federation said that due to the absence of an indoor wooden basketball facility in St. Vincent and the Grenadines that meets international competition standards, the national team is required to conduct its pre-tournament training camp in Trinidad and Tobago.
Therefore, the team departs on Friday, July 3, for Trinidad, where they are participating in a three-day training camp before travelling to Guyana on July 6.
The tournament will feature 10 participating nations divided into two groups of five teams, with only the top-ranked team from each group advancing to the next stage of the competition.
SVG have been drawn in Group B alongside Barbados, Grenada, Haiti and the Cayman Islands, while Group A comprises Bermuda, Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, Turks and Caicos Islands, and host nation Guyana.
Team SVG will face each of its Group B opponents in a round-robin format as it vies for one of the two coveted qualification spots.
