Police are investigating the shooting death of a man in Mt Young, Georgetown, who was gunned down around midday Wednesday while on his way in the mountains to buy coconuts.
The dead man has been identified as Gayron Jackson, 49.
Reports are that Jackson had contacted another man regarding the purchase of some coconuts in the Mt Young mountains.
While on his way to make the purchase, he was accosted by unknown assailants, who shot him multiple times.
Jackson died at the scene.
Reports are that police recovered over 15 spell shell casing at the scene as well as other items that might help to crack the case.
The killing brings the homicide count so far this year to 21, six more than the same period of 2025, when the country recorded 40 homicides, 14 fewer than the previous year.
