St. Kitts – Two former minister of Prime Minister Dr. Denzil Douglas’ St. Kitts Labour Party government will launch a new political party today –Monday.
Sam Condor and Dr. Timothy Harris have formed a new political party, the People’s Labour Party (PLP)
Prime Minister Douglas fired Harris, a 17-year Member of Parliament, on Jan. 25 after he openly opposed two pieces of government-sponsored legislations.
Condor resigned from the cabinet five days later.
Both men, along with four elected members of the opposition, have indicated to the governor general that they do not support Douglas as prime minister and will vote in favour of a motion of no confidence, filed by the opposition last December.
The six are the majority of elected members of the House.
With the formation of the PLP, St Kitts and Nevis now has at least six registered political parties that intend to field candidates in the next general elections.
