The Urban Expression Theatre Company will embark on its first community drama tour to several rural communities throughout St. Vincent.

The tour will begin this Saturday at the learning resource centre in Sandy Bay. On Sept. 14, the newly refurbish community centre in Rose Hall will come alive with creativity and drama.

The tour will continue in Barrouallie on Sept. 28 and then moves to the Questelles Learning Resource Centre on Oct. 5.

The curtains will come down on the tour Oct. 26 and 27 at the Peace Memorial Hall in Kingstown at 7.30 p.m.

Urban Expression Theatre Company has presented plays in the National Theatre Arts Festival since 2007, and has won a number drama awards in many categories.

Urban Expression Theatre Company’s will stage “Haunted”, a play written and directed by David “Darkie” Williams.

The tour will include a 25-member cast and crew.

The activities of the tour will take the form of a performing arts show, which will also see the host group and or individuals from the communities performing in these shows.

One objective of the tour is to influence the start of drama groups, following a six-point training workshop in drama.

The shows will comprise performances from members of Urban Expression, members of the host group and other specially selected guess performers, who will presents, folk songs and drumming, dance and songs, skits, monologues and the showcase the best talent from within SVG, in a two-hour presentation at the selected venues.
