The National Lotteries Authority (NLA) has handed over a cheque for EC$100,000 to Prime Minister Ralph Gonsalves towards the relief fund for persons affected by the Christmas Eve floods in St. Vincent.

The donation was made at Cabinet room on Monday.

Chairman of the National Lotteries Authority, Murray Bullock, expressed his sympathy to the families who were affected by the storm.

Bullock encouraged those persons, saying they must be “steadfast and keep the faith”.

Gonsalves thanked the NLA for their contribution to the disaster relief and commended the organization for their mission of supporting and promoting development in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

The NLA will also be launching a scratchy game and the proceeds will be donated to the relief fund.

Nine persons died and three are missing as a result of floods and landslides triggered by a trough system on Christmas Eve. The weather system also resulted in extensive damage to infrastructure, housing, and agriculture.
