Chair of the Carnival Development Corporation, Dennis Ambrose said on Wednesday that the CDC is “happy overall” with this year’s festival, which ended on Tuesday with Mardi Gras.
Following is Ambrose’s statement to the media:
Vincy Mas ended with a magnificent street parade of 13 Mas Bands averaging size of about 200-800 revelers and a sea of vibrant colors, a fitting climax to a successful Vincy Mas.
The first band arrived at 11:00 am which was Mirage Mas Band and others followed in a fairly fluid manner for judging in Victoria Park. The Bands were able to parade on the streets with no hindrances, the weather was co-operative.
Our shows that formed part of our calendar of activities were well executed and the results for the most parts were well received. Congrats to all the winners in the categories.
The private events were well patronized and enjoyed by all who attended.
It was blatantly evident that many visitors participated and it shows that Vincy Mas appeals to the wider world.
The J’ouvert and afternoon Street Party were tremendous. There were bands on the road on Monday with upwards of 4,000 persons enjoying the event. It is evident that this unique event is back in all its glory.
Thanks for the vigilance of the police and the security services in helping to oversee good conduct. Thanks to our sanitation services that worked hard to give us a physically clean city. Thanks to the media for the wide coverage now it’s back to the drawing board to review and start the process of planning for 2015. The CDC is happy overall.
Sincerely,
CARNIVAL DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION
