Shné Joachim, with her coach Kyle Dougan, represented St Vincent and the Grenadines at the 20th Biennial Caribbean Islands Swimming Championships (CISC)‎ in Barbados form June 26 to July 7.

In a very tough competition Joachim won the silver medal for second place in the 50 metre breaststroke. She also swam faster than the previous record.

Shne also won the bronze medal in the 100-metre breaststroke event.

In the swimming world CISC is the next competitive level above Carifta.

The CISC included Carifta teams (such as Aruba, Jamaica, Trinidad, Bahamas and Barbados) plus Cuba, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Honduras, Guatemala, Suriname, Bermuda and Costa Rica.

The event featured over 270 of the best swimmers in the entire Caribbean and was an official Central American and Caribbean Games qualifier.

Swimming will be well represented at the upcoming Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland later in July. The swim team forms part of the SVG national team and the swimmers will be coached by Kyle Dougan.

The swim team includes Storm Halbich, Nikolas Sylvester, Dillon Gooding, Shane Cadogan, Adora Lawrence and Shne Joachim.

Outstanding performance once more from this wonderful young lady. We should also applaud the dedication of her dad in supporting her 110%.
