The St. Vincent and the Grenadines Coast Guard is searching at sea for two fishermen from Kingstown the Police Force said on Wednesday.

Reports are that Ellis Roberts, who originates from Clare Valley and a male who goes by the alias “Swaller”, left Kingstown to fish west of St. Vincent and the Grenadines approximately 6 a.m. on Monday but have not been seen since.

The men, who were onboard the vessel “Sunil”, with registration number J8-781CA, were expected to return to Kingstown on Monday evening.

A missing persons report was made to the Coast Guard on Tuesday evening.

The Coast Guard has requested aerial support from Trinidad and Tobago in search of the men.

  1. The government is doing nothing for fisherman in SVG. There is equipment that could be purchased and sold to fishermen so that they can call if/when their engines fail. Some fish finders come with that equipment. The Fish Marketing board owes fisher men money for long periods of time. They should work out a deal where they get the equipment duty free so the fishermen can purchase them at a reasonable price. This can save many lives. I believe Barbados has such equipment available for fisherman in the union.
