Sion Hill Tallawahs captain Shamic Roberts has become the first player to be penalised by the organisers of the SVG Police Co- operative Credit Union Clinchers 20/20 softball Tournament for bringing the game into disrepute.

On Sunday, Roberts was reported by the umpires for knocking off the bails with his bat after being dismissed for 19 in his team’s match against Dr. Thomas Injectors, which they lost by 5 wickets.

He was slapped with a one-match ban.

Roberts, the tournament’s 2015 MVP, admitted his wrongdoing and was handed the suspension at a short hearing on Sunday with a warning that any further transgressions will lead to a stiffer penalty and possible expulsion from the competition.

The organisers say they are also looking at reports of other act of ill-disciplined in other matches to see what action, if any, will be taken against persons found to be in breach of the tournament’s regulations.
