Cumberland lass, Kysa Dowers was crowned Miss North Leeward 2019 in a pageant held on Friday night in Petit Bordel, besting participants from four other communities and delighting her supporters.
Dowers, an experienced entrant in pageantry and beauty shows, also won the swimwear and interview segments.
She edged out first runner-up Andrea Delpesche of Rose Bank, and second runner-up Ruth Seaton of Spring Village to take the top prize.
Dowers succeeds Akecia Harry of Rose Bank, winner in 2018.
Delpesche won the evening wear segment; and Seaton was named winner of the talent segment.
The Miss Congeniality award was taken by Seaton, while Ronica Samuel of Rose Hall was named Miss Photogenic.
Makiesha Edwards, of Petit Bordel, was chosen by Facebook fans for the people’s choice award.
The competition was held on the grounds of the Petit Bordel Secondary School, as part of North Leeward Carnival celebrations for 2019.
The next activity for North Leeward carnival would be the Soca Monarch competition on Friday, at Beach Front Restaurant and Bar in Chateaubellair.
