St. Vincent and the Grenadines recorded its 53rd homicide for 2024 Monday night when a man was gunned down in Roseau, Sion Hill, around 8:22 p.m.

Residents of the East Kingstown community reported hearing about 10 shots before seeing a man collapse to the ground.

The identity of the victim has not been confirmed but one person who saw the body told iWitness News that it appeared to have a gunshot to the head.

The killing is the second in the country in just over 24 hours and the third in a week.

It takes the homicide count closer to the record 55 set in 2023, which replaced the 42 record set the previous year.

On Sunday, the country recorded its 52nd homicide when Redemption Sharpes resident Isaiah Antrobus aka Rich Gang, 23, was gunned down in Glen around 5:47 p.m.

On Dec. 9, Jarvis Horne aka Smadd Dan, a sanitation worker, died when an assailant walked up to him and shot him in the head at close range and again in the torso after he fell to the ground while sweeping the street in Rose Place, Kingstown, around 6:30 p.m.

Then, on Tuesday, Enrico Johnny, a 35-year-old vendor, of Ottley Hall, was injured when a gunman dressed like a construction or utilities worker fired about 10 shots at him around 11:50 a.m. near the Rubis Gas Station in Rose Place.

  1. Until the whole political situation and the police force are laundered and properly trained this will continue. It is a kind of rot emanating from the head and spoiling the whole mental attitude of the youth.

Too much poles without lights svg is the only country with the less street lights in most countries every pole have a light regardless of how close they are, I am sure if there were more lighting the the killer (probably)would have think twice to shoot. Not saying this is a contributing factor, but simple small steps like these can go along way.
