A 23-year-old man has been slapped with a second murder charge even as he is in prison awaiting a preliminary inquiry into the first homicide charge against him.
Lemar Isaacs aka Chak, a labourer, of Mc Kies Hill, appeared before Chief Magistrate Colin John on Monday charged with murder in connection with the Sept. 9, 2023 death of Mark Williams, a 31-year-old vendor, of New Montrose.
Williams died at Milton Cato Memorial Hospital sometime after being shot by a masked assailant in September 2023.
Police said then that Williams was at a shop in Old Montrose/Block 2000 when a masked man approached him with a gun and started to fire shots.
Williams received several shots in his abdomen and was rushed to the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital for medical attention but later died.
Isaacs was not allowed to plead to the indictable charge and bail was not open to him.
He was remanded in custody until the next hearing on March 24.
Isaacs is also awaiting the disposal of a murder charge against him in connection with the June 16, 2024, shooting death of Zeno Lee aka Sarge.
Isaacs allegedly shot and killed Lee, a 33-year-old businessman, in his home community, Murray’s Village, on June 16, 2024.
Issacs also faces attempted murder and grievous bodily harm charges stemming from the same shooting in which Lee was killed.
The shooting took place at a bar at Murray’s Village, where a gunman entered the bar, accosted the patrons, and opened fire.
Enrique King, an adult male, sustained gunshot wounds to his right chest and his right arm. Additionally, Ronald Millington sustained a broken leg while fleeing the scene during the incident.
Millington was shot and killed in his Murray’s Village on Dec. 6, 2024, while walking with the aid of the crutches that he had been using since he was shot.
Further, Isaacs, along with five other accused — Erasto Dasilva, 33, of Canouan; Esroy Jeffers aka Pirate, 28, of Layou; Rakiesha Joseph aka Bim Bim, 26, of Layou; Sharome Dopwell, of Paul’s Avenue, and Enrique John, 27, of Layou — were charged with several offences in connection with the alleged robbery at the GECCU office in South Rivers on July 17, 2024.
The murder charge on Monday is the third cold case in which police have brought charges in recent months.
In a press statement on Monday, police said the charge demonstrates their dedication to justice and public safety.
