“Munt-I”, who was a popular personality on the streets of Kingstown before relocating to Barrouallie several years ago, died on his way to the hospital on Monday after being chopped in the Central Leeward town.
A video circulating on social media Monday evening showed the man with severe chop wounds about his body and multiple sources confirmed to iWitness News that he died.
The chopping incident is alleged to have been triggered by the reported theft of money on Sunday.
A suspect is in police custody.
Munt-I is alleged to have fled Kingstown several years ago after he allegedly stole crack cocaine in the city.
He was a frequent feature on social media, singing his soca composition even as he made percussion sounds with his mouth.
The killing brings the homicide count in St. Vincent and the Grenadines this year to eight and follows the shooting death in Diamond of shopkeeper Winston Williams aka Zeke, 66, on Friday night.
SVG recorded 40 homicides in 2025. The eight killings so far in 2026 compare to five around this time last year.

It is time for the electric chair to be introduced in St.Vincent and the Grenadines against all those nonsense killings. Or reintroduced the gallow, and set it in the heart of the city in a bullet proof glass Cage and publicly execute those senseless murderers, and chop off the hands of thieves and mask men, but those that murder execute them publicly to make an example out of them. Eight (8) People in nearly under 3 months, so who next???. No the judges, police, the government, and the whole law system is a damn joke. So every year in that little under 200 sq miles country mask murder must, must take place???. So what, the demon of blood shed took residence in SVG and every body is so caught up with nonsense that no one is praying, and preaching, and casting out the devil from out of the people and the nation. Which means that SVG enjoys entertaining the devil and his demonic forces, so the devil is enjoying killing them through both bloodshed and STD’S. It’s time for the nonsense to stop. The government is making joke for too long with murderers, and this life in prison is not sending the message that murderers and angry people need to get. Reintroduce the gallos, and introduce the electric chair, and execute them publicly.
The NDP is bound to fail on the crime front — especially reducing the murder rate — as was their predecessor, the ULP.
“Promises made, promises broken,” is an epithet characterizing both political parties.
