Update (June 17, 2013 – 13:50): Wanted man returns to St. Vincent from Grenada
Dwaine Sandy, the man wanted by police in connection with the robbery of a postal worker and the shooting of a police officer in Kingstown on Thursday, says he is in another Caribbean country and will return to St. Vincent to “clear” his name.
Sandy told I-Witness News on Monday that he is in the company of a Vincentian lawyer who will escort him to St. Vincent
He maintained that he is innocent and said he is being framed.
Reports say that EC$100,000 was stolen during the robbery.
The police officer, Jolani Jack, was shot, reportedly three times, as he attempted to assist the postal worker.
The assailant then fled the scene, triggering a police manhunt.
Police on Friday said that Sandy, a former national footballer, was wanted for questioning in connection with the crime.
