The wife of a former parliamentarian here died in a vehicular accident in Texas on the weekend.

Reports say that Marge Sayers, wife of former Central Kingstown representative, Conrad Sayers, died on Saturday when the vehicle in which she was traveling overturned.

Mr. Sayers was an MP From March 2001 to December 2010.

Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves expressed condolences in Parliament on Tuesday and described the deceased as a “wonderful lady”.

“We recognise her passing and we send our condolences to Conrad, her children, immediate family and friends. It’s painful when these tragic things happen,” he told legislators.

Central Kingstown representative, St. Clair Leacock, an opposition lawmaker, and Leader of the Opposition, Arnhim Eustace, also expressed condolences.
