During exchanges between Mr. Jomo Thomas and myself on a closed Internet group site, the following words were posted by Mr. Jomo Sanga Thomas:
“I see nothing wrong with publishing the views of Mr. Scott. His narrative is different than mine. He thinks that the Garifunas and enslave(s)d Africans are distinct peoples. I beg to differ. He believes that all of our enslaves(d) were passively waiting on(e) the white man to free them. I know that is not true ….. Mr. Scott argues that Africans came to SVG in 1804. I know that is bunk. Africans were on these islands, in the Americas, even before the Europeans got here ….. Finally, the foreign offices of the former colonial powers will embrace Mr. Scott’s narrative because it is a recipe for doing nothing. He evidently thinks and it is evident in his writings that Europe is superior to the civilization that we crafted.”
In no way do these words reflect my writings on Caribbean News Now or I-Witness News over the past two months.
To Jomo Thomas:
After our last exchanges on this site, I turned over copies of all of my recent writings pertaining to St. Vincent and the Grenadines along with the text of your post of what you think are my thoughts to a friend who is a practicing lawyer. My question to him was: Do I have grounds to sue this person for libel, slander, defamation, or character assassination?
The answer came back today, clearly indicating that there is more than sufficient grounds for launching such a case. As indicated earlier, I do not intend to launch such an undertaking primarily because of the difficulties involved in internet cases of this type. Instead, I have decided to confront you and your kind on the electoral hustings in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
I have no intention of running for political office. Instead, as of this moment, I am beginning to prepare for returning to St. Vincent in the very near future, hopefully before the election is called. I will be staying in the Home Front, Campden Park, not far from your place. I intend to join the area representative, Mr. Nigel Stephenson, on any and every platform in his drive to be re-elected as area representative under the NDP banner.
He was ably supported in arriving at the political front by my brother, Jerry Scott, who, as you know, is still a major and much loved political force throughout the South Leeward constituency and who is still, despite his silence over many years, a respected former politician, not only in South Leeward, but throughout St. Vincent. Nigel’s candidacy continues to enjoy Jerry’s support and will be much enhanced by my direct entry into the fray. As fate would have it, Nigel’s wife turns out to be the daughter of my only God-child in St. Vincent. In other words, you’re essentially having to go up against, not only Nigel “Nature” Stephenson, but his extended family.
Among all of the major issues to be brought to the forefront in the upcoming campaign, I will be bringing to this effort the ability to deal effectively with the Reparations issue and to expose to all Vincentians your and the ULP government’s misrepresentations in dealing with it. I intend to see to it that the debate on Reparations that was not fairly handled in the National Assembly will become one of the major issues in this campaign. I am now moving beyond words to action and, I am warning you, I can be far more effective with words when speaking on a public platform than I am when writing on a computer.
The Godfather’s gloves are now on! The historian will now become a brawler! You’re going to be confronted with a scorching fire. Prepare for the fight of your life!

As I told you before, Mr. Thomas is an intellectual lightweight who is below your notice. Pay him no heed and move along. Bothering with him makes you look small.
POLITICS AT IT ‘BEST’. I HOPE THE OPPOSITION(MR THOMAS) HAS AN ‘EXTENDED FAMILY’ READY, WILLING & ABLE TO STAND BY/BEHIND & WITH HIM TOO!
d.doris.peters almost got it right in her comment. But why use the word “African” to point out Anatol’s arrogance, or “Gentlemen” when referring to Anatol’s immature behavior? Come on Doris, call a spade a spade, and dont play around like that. Anatol is the speaker here in this letter and no one else, and he is no Gentleman or African in my book, not even Vincentian (you said our country); Say what you really meant to say Anatol is a jack donkey, for want of a better word.
Correct me if I’m wrong, Anatol, but weren’t you very critical of the NDP, in general, and your brother, Jerry, in particular, in many postings on the long-defunct chat site called KaribTalk, to which you were a regular contributor from your home in Edmonton?
I distinctly recall your innuendos about corruption concerning the acquisition of three dwelling houses. Please refresh my memory.
