South Leeward representative Nigel “Nature” Stephenson, with whom former Unity Labour Party (ULP) South Leeward councillor, Edgar Cruickshank had begun to campaign before his death on Saturday, has described the fallen activist as his “brother and friend”.
Cruickshank, 78, of Questelles, died after a vehicle crashed into him and other persons at a New Democratic Party (NDP) meeting in Clare Valley.
“My heart is heavy and in pain. I knew all the victims of last night’s tragedy! They are my constituents — my supporters — my confidants — my friends,” Stephenson said in a post on Facebook on Sunday.
“I mourn the loss of my brother and friend, Mr. Edgar Cruickshank; and I extend my deepest condolences to his family. May his soul rest in peace!
“I am thankful for the others that you are alive. I wish you all a full and speedy recovery from your injuries and the trauma of last night’s events. I will keep you in my prayers, and in my heart. You and your families [can] call on me for any assistance I can give,” he further said.
“Clare Valley, and South Leeward — St. Vincent and the Grenadines: I know that we are traumatized by what has happened. Some of us are worried—confused—sad—angry! But I urge us to remain calm. Let us not respond with violent confrontation. We will stand and seek justice! But we must also remain resolute that our nation must change for the better. The deep divisions among us must be mended, and we must have ‘a kinder and gentler society’.
“To my mind, that would be the most fitting tribute to Edgar Cruickshank, who was with us in our struggle. Let us honour him with wisdom and positive actions!” Stephenson said.
Police said on Monday that they are “investigating the circumstances surrounding a fatal motor vehicular accident involving motor vehicle P 7516, driven by Antoine Anthony of Questelles and pedestrian Edgar Cruickshank, 78 years, retired, of Questelles” which occurred along the Clare Valley public road on Dec. 6.
“Motor vehicle P 7516 collided with Cruickshank and other pedestrians at a public meeting in Clare Valley. Cruickshank succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead on arrival at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital. Four other persons sustained serious injuries about their bodies and are patients at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital,” a release from the Police Public Relations Department said.

The word “Collided”
The word “collided” means: when things on same paths going, or headed In same direction.
Motor vehicle P 7516 collided with Cruickshank and other pedestrians at a public meeting.
These people was standing and listening from speakers from a NDP political meeting.
So from my little insight here and inference.
The car and it driver ran into Cruickshank and other pedestrians . So this is not a collision
