Organisers of the 2015 Hairoun Beer Mayreau Regatta are promising a festival that is “bigger and better than ever with four fun-filled days for the whole family” from April 30 to May 3.

The highlights of Thursday, April 30 will be:

  • fishing competition (sponsored by the Tobago Cays Marine Park and LIME)
  • cricket games
  • traditional cooking competition
  • opening ceremony
  • games night with bingo, dips & punchboard, and
  • after party.

Organisers say Mayreau is the place to be on May Day. On Friday, May 1, locals and visitors of all ages can enjoy a wide range of events and activities, all sponsored by YELLOW PAGES (Global Directories):

  • 4th annual lionfish derby
  • kite flying contest
  • maypole dancing
  • children’s activities
  • domino contest
  • basketball (Mayreau vs. Canouan)
  • 2nd annual lionfish cooking competition
  • culture & talent show, and
  • after party.

Saturday, May 2 will feature:

  • sailboat races
  • onshore activities for children & adults, and
  • ALL WHITE GLOW PARTY with DJ Malcolm X.

The regatta will wrap up on Sunday, May 3 with:

  • closing ceremony with trophies donated by SVG Tourism Authority.

There will be boat rides from both Union Island and Canouan to the regatta on May Day and for the ALL WHITE GLOW PARTY with DJ Malcolm X on Saturday night. There will also be boats leaving from Union on Sunday at 11 in the morning and at noon. The cost, which includes welcome aboard rum punch, made with Sunset donated by St. Vincent Distillers, is $30 return from Union and $40 return from Canouan.
