Police are investigating a fatal motor vehicle accident involving a pedal cyclist and a car in Byera Wednesday night.

Cristin John, 49, a labourer of Byrea, was riding his bicycle when he was struck by PN854, a motor car owned and driven by Adonson Da Souza of Park Hill, around 10:50 p.m., police say.

He was rushed to the Georgetown Hospital and was pronounced dead on arrival by the district medical officer.

Da Souza is assisting the police with the investigations.

Wednesday’s death brings to six the number of persons killed as a result of vehicular accidents in St. Vincent and the Grenadines in 2017.
