A Vincentian has been awarded Male Young Leader of the Year at the Caribbean Youth Leadership Retreat in Bridgetown, Barbados.

Te Browne, a 17-year-old student at the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Community College, was recognised for his commitment to excellence in advocacy and youth leadership.

The retreat was held Dec. 27 – 30, 2019 and hosted by the United Young Leaders of Barbados.

The participants included youth from Barbados, Dominica, Jamaica, St. Vincent and the Grenadines and Trinidad and Tobago.

The theme for the retreat was “Run Wid It: Youth and Health”.

Participants engaged in physical activity, health talks, team building, educational presentations and developed health-related projects.

The retreat is held annually and is geared at promoting regional integration and youth development.

  1. Congrats, Te Brown. Great job! What are you pursing in school, and where in SVG you from? You did well in what appeared to be a very challenging and competitive undertaking. St Vincent and the Grenadines should seize the opportunity to have you employ your skills and abilities on some projects, as you are an excellent advocate and great youth leader. You can also reach out on your own to other leaders and form teams to devise solutions for SVG.

    ST Vincent and the Grenadines Under-15 Cricket Team came in last in the recent cricket championship held in SVG, despite being at home, and despite attending the cricket academy. You might want to have a talk with them and other youth teams and individuals gearing up to compete.

  2. Well, the youth-man win a prize at summer camp erm how does this help the other youths who couldn’t attend the camp? Looking ahead I hope these youths become role models for the next generation of SVG children. How many youths from SVG attended? Oh! forgot it was just a mention. At least the youth doing their best in some areas. Kudos.
